We are offering a repair service of Sony TCD D7 or D8 Walkman recorders
Over time these complex machines are known to develop specific faults and errors which we can help assist you with
Our service is designed to remedy the most common issues experienced such as:
* If your Sony DAT Walkman is having issues with loading/ejecting DAT tapes or is showing Error 11 then this is most likely due to the grease in the gearbox solidifying with age. Our service includes a full strip down and re-lubrication of the gear box to remedy this issue
* If you are having digital distortion on playback and/or fresh recordings are not correctly erasing previous content then this could be due to the loading arms working loose over time and causing misalignment of the tape again the head. As part of our service we will check for this and will remedy and reset as required
As an extra to our standard service we are able to replace the audio capacitors on your Sony DAT Walkman. The key indicator of this issue is the audio will be low on either or both channels
What’s included?
The service price includes:
An inspection of your item
Full strip down and re-lubrication of top and bottom deck including gear box
Timing reset
Clean of all switches and volume control
Pinch roller and capstan clean
Full test upon reassembly
Return postage (UK mainland only)
If further repairs are required, this will be quoted separately. As there are no new parts available for these units then the sourcing of a suitable donor unit may be required.
How does it work?
Upon purchase of this service we will contact you with details so you can ship us your item for repair (at your own expense)
Once we have inspected and serviced your item we will contact you to advise if any additional work is required to complete the repair (no repairs will be commenced until paid in advance).
It is important to bear in mind that it is sometimes impossible to test a unit until it has been serviced due to the common fault of these units seizing over time. It is entirely possible for a unit to have other underlying faults which may not be discovered until the unit has been serviced.
All servicing and repairs are performed on a best endeavours basis due to the age of the items and Sony no longer supplying replacement parts
Your serviced item will be returned to you using an insured courier service (UK mainland only)
If you have any questions or specific repair requests please contact us and we will be glad to help
We do not adjust the tracking as this would already be set to your own tapes but if the loading arms are found to be loose we will reset this to a generic setting. If you do wish for us to check the tracking against your own tapes we request that you do send one of your own tapes back with your unit
Please note that this service is only for the repair and service of a Sony TCD D7 or D8 DAT walkman recorder. By purchasing you are not buying any audio equipment shown in the picture
If you are located outside of mainland UK then additional shipping costs will apply along with any relevant customs charges. You are required to cover these costs yourself
