Sony TCD-D7 Portable DAT Recorder – Serviced

Why not enjoy the resurgence of vintage analogue audio – start your journey into classic hifi here with this Sony TCD-D7 portable DAT Walkman

This item has been fully serviced by myself It has been stripped and lubricated with a combination of light precision oil and ceramic grease (where applicable) on the top and bottom side gearboxes including a reset of the timing. I have also tightened both grub screws on the loading arms which prevents the adjustment posts on the in and out tape guide adjusting on their own

It has had the super capacitor has been replaced with a new one which enables the clock to retain its memory for upto an hour after the power supply has been removed

I have tested the recording and playback functionality and it works well. I have recorded a whole album with no issues at all. Fast forward, rewind and indexing searching (forwards and backwards) are working perfectly
It also loads tapes quickly The backlight is working on this unit

The unit is cosmetically in good condition – there are a some wear marks on the unit which are visible on the photos.
The unit will be supplied with a new tape with some music recorded onto it to demonstrate that it records and plays back fine
Also supplied with new retro-look headphones, original box and user guide and pattern power supply

These units are now becoming quite rare to find

Its worth bearing in mind that the tracking has been set to the DAT tapes I have recorded here, if your tapes are recorded on machines with tracking set differently then you may need to adjust the tracking on this machine to suit your tapes
It is also recommended not to use extremely long DDS tapes as the tape is usually very thin which can cause issues on these units
