Sony TCD – D8 DAT Walkman
You are bidding for a Sony TCD-D8 portable DAT Walkman
This item has been fully serviced by myself It has been stripped and lubricated with a combination of light precision oil and ceramic grease (where applicable) on the top and bottom side gearboxes including a reset of the timing. I have also tightened both grub screws on the loading arms which prevents the adjustment posts on the in and out tape guide adjusting on their own
I have tested the recording and playback functionality and it works well. I have recorded a whole album with no issues at all. Fast forward, rewind and indexing searching (forwards and backwards) are working perfectlyIt also loads tapes quickly The backlight is working on this unit
The unit is cosmetically in really good condition – there are a couple of minor marks on the unit which are visible on the photos. The rubber feet are not in the best condition and one is missing
The soft case has one end piece missing but is still functional
The unit will be supplied with a new tape with some music recorded onto it to demonstrate that it records and plays back fine
Also supplied with a Sony power supply, battery caddy and soft carry case
These units are now becoming quite rare to find
Its worth bearing in mind that the tracking has been set to the DAT tapes I have recorded here, if your tapes are recorded on machines with tracking set differently then you may need to adjust the tracking on this machine to suit your tapes
It is also recommended not to use extremely long DDS tapes as the tape is usually very thin which can cause issues on these units
